I like hard problems and the messy middle of them

I grew up in Bangalore, moved to Sweden for my studies, and I am now in Berkeley studying strategy, finance and entrepreneurship. Somewhere along the way I noticed that the hardest problems are rarely mysteries. They are usually badly framed. Once you decide what the real question is, who owns it, and what number tells you it is working, most of the difficulty quietly disappears.

That is the work I love. Take something messy, a business losing money, a product without a market, a portfolio of offerings nobody can explain, and turn it into a clear plan with owners, numbers and deadlines.

I studied software engineering before I studied management, which means I can tell the difference between a product that sounds impressive and one that can actually be built and sold. I can read the architecture and the business case at the same time, and that is usually where the interesting decisions live.

I also believe execution is the whole game. At Chalmers Teknologkonsulter I was promoted three times in eighteen months, and every one of those steps followed something that was finished, measured and handed over, not something I proposed.

Outside of work I am an active person. Golf has become a recent obsession and tennis has been a constant. I am also a classically trained dancer of ten years and played piano for seven, which is where I first learned that you practise the boring parts until the hard parts look easy.
